Tragically, some animals had to be euthanized before the underlying cause could be determined.

Veterinary neurologist Dr. Nina Meyerhoff from the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover explains that research into the matter is still in its early stages. While Finland has already activated the European Rapid Alert System, German investigations are currently focusing on identifying potential contamination sources within the production chain.
